This precious essential oil contains all the “essential” and most important properties of natural myrrh. Today, most fragrances, perfumes and oils are totally or in part chemically-synthesized. OLIVE Olea europaea L.,
Oil pressed from the fruit of the olive tree has been prized since the dawn of civilization and has been an essential ingredient in skin preparations since mankind’s beginnings. The word Oil is derived from Olive. It is a powerful antioxidant and forms a protective film over the skin thus shielding the pores from infiltrations of dirt and dust. For centuries people of the Mediterranean have recognized the benefits of OLIVE OIL as a superb moisturizer suitable for all skin types. Olive oil is the predominate oil of the bible and throughout history it was renowned for its healing and soothing effects on the skin. It was used in women’s cosmetics and rubbed on the muscles of ancient Olympic athletes and wounded gladiators. Olive oil was the biblical Good Samaritan's treatment to the wounded traveler. It was the anointing oil of Kings coronations, and the Holy Oil of the Tabernacle and Solomon’s temple. In ancient times one olive tree would support an entire family with everything they needed; olives for food, wood for shelter, shade and heat, oil for anointing, healing and for light.   The great olive tree with its gnarled trunk and silvery leaves is extremely long lived, with deep roots, it is almost impossible to kill the tree by merely chopping it down.  Cutting and pruning actually rejuvenate it with new sprouts. Olive groves have provided the setting for some of humanity's most sacred and glorious events. The olive tree was the symbol of peace in the ancient world. An olive branch was carried by a dove in honor of God's peace to Noah after the flood and it was often associated with Jesus, the Prince of Peace.

SAFFRON Crocus Sativus L.
The beautiful light gold color of the balm is obtained naturally from the precious spice Saffron.  As expensive as gold in antiquity it has earned the title of Royal Spice.  Once only available to royalty, it is valued for its pleasant scent and enhancing color.  200,000 stigmas of the small crocus flower are hand picked to make just one pound of the precious saffron threads. Saffron contains more than 150 volatile and aroma-yielding compounds and documentation of saffron's use over the span of 4,000 years in the treatment of some 90 illnesses has been uncovered.

Is there no Balm in Gilead? Jeremiah 8:22

In this verse the prophet Jeremiah groans over the spiritual condition of his nation, he sees their need for a healing, soothing Balm and cries out for a physician. The Hebrew word Gilead means “hill of testimony or witness” and is a derivation of the root meaning "rugged". Gilead is a rugged region in Jordan; and it was the birthplace of the prophet Elijah. Our world today is also a rugged place and our nation in need a Great Physician who can heal or sooth our pain. We can be a witness or testimony of the “good news” of a Great Physician. We can also be that soothing healing balm, a Balm of Gilead. We can offer the world, the balm of a soothing and kind word, or a warm smile, we can hlep to cover an injury or offense with the salve of forgiveness, patience and understanding.

African –American Spiritual Song:

"There is a balm in Gilead to make the wounded whole. There is a balm in Gilead to heal the sin-sick soul.
Sometimes I feel discouraged and think my works in vain; but then the Holy Spirit revives my soul again.
There is a balm in Gilead to make the wounded whole. There is a balm in Gilead to heal the sin-sick soul.
If you can preach like Peter, if you can preach like Paul, go home and tell your neighbor, He died to save us all.
There is a balm in Gilead to make the wounded whole. There is a balm in Gilead to heal the sin-sick soul."
